How do you get the image on the tiles?

We use the process called Dye Sublimation. Please see The Technology page for detailed information on the process.

How many pictures do I need for a collage mural?

For murals created using 6" tiles, we recommend 3 - 5 pictures per tile. For murals created using 4" tiles, we recommend 2-3 pictures per tile. For murals created using 8" tiles, we recommend 4-6 pictures per tile. There should be a good blend of both horizontal and vertical pictures included.

How long will my collage mural take?

The length of time required to create your mural is dependent on a lot of factors - the size of the final mural, the type of images you are providing (ie. do we need to scan them), the quality of images you are providing, and our current work load. When you call to discuss your project, we can give you a timeline for your specific project.

I really want to do a personal collage mural, but what happens when I sell my house?

A lot of people attach their tiles to a wood board and hang the board so they can take the mural with them in the event of moving. If you attach your tiles directly to the wall, then you won't be able to take them. If you decide to attach your mural to a board, you would use the same tile glue and grout as if they were attached to a wall. You can frame the entire piece using a picture type frame or even wood molding. Additionally, you don't have to frame out the piece at all. If you choose to mount the mural to a board, please discuss this with us prior to installing it as we've done this many times for shows, etc. and have some tips we can pass on to you.

I don't understand what a color proof tile is, please explain.

The color proof tile is a single tile of the type that you ordered (ie. matte, glass, etc). The entire image is printed on a single tile for your review and approval. The tile is usually NOT the same sized tile as the tile that will make up your order (ie. you ordered a 24 x 36 mural using 6" matte tiles, your proof tile may be a 6 x 8 or 8 x 10 matte tile). Because of color issues over the internet, we want to make sure you know exactly what you are getting when you order a mural. By sending a proof tile, you will see the colors of the image and the image on the tile type that you ordered. The proof makes sure there are no surprises! An approval of the proof tile is required before we start creating your mural.

Can I supply you with my tiles?

The process that we use requires the use of specially coated tiles, so we can not use tiles that you or your tile store provide. We currently have many different types of tiles available in different sizes to fit your needs. See Tile Descriptions for the recommended uses for each type of tile and the sizes available. The tiles we use are the standard size and depth tile so they will interface with your other tiles beautifully.

Do you have bull-nosed or finishing tiles available?

No, our special tiles only come with unfinished edges. We suggest that you either finish the mural piece with coordinating colored tiles that are bull-nosed or use a framing tile to frame the mural.

Will you work with my builder or interior designer?
